Hair Loss

Hair Loss, hair thinning or baldness is largely due to a genetic disposition, but stress from an illness or major surgery is also a contributor to temporary or permanent hair loss.

Some causes of Hair Loss include:

-An overactive or under-active thyroid can impair hair regeneration

-Male or female hormones out of balance.

-Women suffer hair loss about 3 month after giving birth - high levels of hormones during pregnancy cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out.

-Poor nutrition - having a low protein or iron deficient diet and general poor nutrition Crash diets resulting in poor nutrition which can lead to hair loss.

-Pigtails or cornrows put stress on the scalp due to the pulling. Scaring of the scalp can occur it the pulling is too much. Scaring of the scalp will cause permanent hair loss.

-Chemicals used in dyeing, tinting, bleaching, straightening or perming. Typically they may cause swelling of the hair follicle, which may result in scaring and hair loss.
